Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Wall Art Ideas for Your Project

DIY Wall Art
DIY wall art is one of the cost-friendly means by which you can enliven and brighten up drab, bare walls in your home. Usually, purchasing wall arts can come with considerable cost. Canvas wall arts and paintings range between a few hundred to thousands of dollars. Painting murals on your walls can be very expensive as well because you need to hire someone to clean and repair your walls prior to getting the services of an artist. Thankfully, DIY wall art makes it easy for you to decorate your interiors without having to spend considerable money.
Ideas for a DIY Wall Art
Obviously, DIY wall art means “do-it-yourself.” If you are creative or if you just simply know how to handle items used in arts and crafts, then you can make your own DIY wall art with common, everyday items around the house. There are also some DIY wall art kits that you can purchase from your local stationary or interior décor shops at less than a hundred dollars.
Do-It-By-Numbers Wall Art
One very popular type of DIY wall art kit is called the “Do-It-By-Numbers”. This kit is so easy to make, even a child can do it. This type of kit is very similar to what you see in coloring books. You are given a lineart design with numbers on the empty spaces indicating what color you should use. If you don’t like the color scheme that is suggested by the kit, you can fill in your choice colors in the spaces.
To use a DIY wall art kit, you need to take the pattern paper to which you will stick the supplied transfer paper at its back. Next, tape the pattern paper on the spot on your wall where you would like the art to be. Trace the design onto the wall with a ballpoint pen. Don’t include the numbers since it might show on the paint. After you are finished tracing the design, remove the pattern paper from the wall. Finally, paint the design based on the color guide that is provided or you can choose your own colors.
Styrofoam Wall Art
You can also make your own multi-panel DIY wall arts using Styrofoam. Go to your local arts and crafts shop and purchase sets of scrapbook paper in various designs. You just stick the scrapbook paper to the Styrofoam then mount the whole thing on the wall. For that nature look, go for scrapbook paper in floral designs. If you prefer the stylish retro look, you can buy scrapbook paper in abstract black-and-white patterns.
If you own a computer and printer, you can also make your own Styrofoam backed DIY wall arts. Simply do an image search for pictures and designs that you like. Print them out on glossy or matte paper, stick them to the Styrofoam, and then mount it on your wall. Your kids can also make their own wall arts by printing out pictures of their favorite cartoon and Japanese anime characters and, again, mount them on Styrofoam. If they prefer larger sized wall arts, simply print out several pictures and make a tapestry out of old blankets, quilts or curtains.
